New Exhibition for 2010 - John Poyer and the Civil Wars

John Poyer seized Pembroke for Parliament in 1642. The exhibition tells the tragic story of

• Poyer’s defection to the Royalists,
• the 1648 siege by Cromwell, and
• Poyer’s fate.

March 1648 – Parliamentarians fight rebels in murderous hand to hand combat.

Panels relate the story in more detail, with many copies of seventeenth century pictures, manuscripts and pamphlets.

The major exhibition occupies two rooms.
